Insurance & Liability Policy – E&C Courier

At E&C Courier, we are committed to handling every shipment with care and professionalism. While we take all reasonable precautions, customers should understand that shipping carries inherent risks. This policy outlines our coverage, limitations, and customer responsibilities.

1. Definitions

Shipment: Any package, parcel, or item accepted by E&C Courier for delivery.

Declared Value: The monetary value assigned to a shipment by the customer for coverage purposes.

Covered Item: Any shipment eligible for coverage under this policy, excluding prohibited or excluded items.

2. Standard Coverage

  • All shipments include basic coverage up to $100 in declared value unless otherwise specified.
  • Customers may purchase additional coverage at a rate of $7 per $100 of declared value.
  • Coverage applies only to physical loss or damage of items. Claims for delays, inconvenience, or indirect losses are not covered.

3. Claims & Reimbursement

  • Reimbursement will only be provided if a declared value was submitted prior to shipment.
  • Shipments without a declared value beyond the included $100 are not eligible for compensation. No exceptions.
  • Claims may be subject to investigation and require proof of value (e.g., invoice, receipt).
  • Items must be properly packaged to qualify for insurance coverage. Improper or insufficient packaging will void coverage.

4. Customer Responsibilities

  • Customers must provide accurate delivery information. Incorrect or incomplete addresses may delay delivery or void coverage.
  • Customers are responsible for ensuring shipments are properly packaged. E&C Courier is not responsible for damage caused by inadequate or insecure packaging.
  • Electronic devices, fragile items, or high-value shipments should be shipped in original or protective packaging to maintain coverage eligibility.

5. Excluded Items

The following items are not insurable under any circumstance:

  • Currency (cash, coins, negotiable instruments)
  • Glass, porcelain, and ceramic items
  • Perishables and items requiring temperature control (with the sole exception of water samples)
  • Electronics, unless shipped in their original manufacturer packaging

6. Unexpected Circumstances

While we do everything we can to provide fast and reliable service, there are rare situations beyond our control — such as severe weather, road closures, or accidents — that may delay or affect a delivery. E&C Courier is not liable for any delays, loss, or inconvenience caused by these events, but we will always do our best to resolve issues promptly and assist customers where possible.

7. Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of Manitoba. Any disputes arising from the use of our services will be handled in accordance with applicable provincial regulations.

8. Policy Changes

E&C Courier reserves the right to amend, update, or modify this policy at any time without prior notice, as permitted by law. The most current version will always be made available to customers.

9. Acceptance of Policy

By requesting pickup or delivery, customers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agree to E&C Courier’s service policies and coverage terms.
